These paintings explore the limits of language and the possibilities of meaning by portraying sets of ambiguous signs, marks, graphics empty of explicit significance. Thus, they display a form of asemic writing, a language without words or before words.

As an immigrant, I came to realize that some cultural references are untranslatable. So much is left unsaid and remains unspoken. Words are, sometimes, not enough. Yet, paradoxically, some words are often so overused they become meaningless. We might feel at a loss for words or that they cannot convey meaning anymore. Still, the impulse for communication persists.
